Visfatin was observed to inhibit JEG-3 cell cycle progression and reduce the expression of PCNA and cyclins D, E, A, and B. These findings are inconsistent with the pro-proliferative role of visfatin in malignant melanoma (Me45), human hepatoma (HepG2, Hep3B, HuH7), breast cancer (MCF-7, MDA-MB-231), and endometrial cancer (Ishikawa, KLE) [54]. The gene discussed is PCNA; the disease is melanoma.
