Given the existing limited data in favor of the efficacy of SGLT2 inhibitors such as EMPA add‐on to the standard of care for the improvement of the NAFLD parameters in T2DM patients, we sought to evaluate the potential impacts of combination therapy of two anti‐diabetic medications (MET and EMPA) with a distinct mode of action in uncontrolled diabetic patients with NAFLD who were on a moderate‐to‐high statin. This evidence concerns the gene SLC5A2 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
