High levels of leptin are observed in obesity, leptin significantly stimulates the emergence of granulocyte macrophage colonies and monocyte and granulocyte precursors, and plasma leptin concentrations significantly correlate with leukocyte counts in overweight and obese individuals, leptin additionally stimulates oxidative bursts of neutrophils, induces chemotaxis, and inhibits apoptosis of these cells, obese adipose tissue is responsible for the promotion of systemic inflammation, which leads to neutrophil production, increased numbers and activation (25, 28, 29). The gene discussed is LEP; the disease is obesity disorder.
