Tau is a protein expressed in neurons whose hyperphosphorylation and aggregation are important factors in neurodegeneration caused by several diseases, including Alzheimer's disease.[26, 27] Regulation of pathological Tau can prevent symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and restore lost function.[28, 29, 30] Antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) targeting Tau protein have been developed,[29, 31, 32] including positive phase I trials in humans with mild Alzheimer's disease.[31] Heteroduplex[33, 34] Tau‐ASOs are assembled on the MSNAs (MSNA3–10). Here, MAPT is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
