In agreement, altered nuclear dynamics and modifications of chromatin have been observed in multiple neurological disorders along with AD.65–67 Interestingly, we identified one protein candidate previously listed among AD biomarkers, namely microtubule-associated protein tau (Mapt), which was elevated in naturally sleeping APP/PS1 mice compared to WT (Figure 5I).62 Together, the overall proteome during natural sleep reflects subtle changes in pathological AD biomarkers already during early stages of amyloidosis.
