OR1G1 and asthma: Given the current lack of effective anti-inflammatory treatments for non-T2 asthma, largely due to the emergence of steroid resistance (Adrish and Akuthota 2023), our results provide the first indication that targeting IL-8 and IL-6 secretion, either by inhibiting cAMP signaling or through direct antagonism of OR51B5 and OR1G1, could form the basis for developing new classes of anti-inflammatory drugs for patients with (OIA), particularly those with the non-T2 phenotype.
