Previous studies have demonstrated that higher m30/m65 serum levels are independently associated with a poorer overall survival in patients with liver cirrhosis [17, 19, 40] and that keratin 18 cell death markers are also negatively correlated with transplant‐free survival in cirrhosis patients with acute decompensation or acute‐on chronic liver failure [20]. The gene discussed is KRT18; the disease is cirrhosis of liver.
