In our analyses, we attempted to explain the effects of alcohol on all-cause and cause-specific mortality by adjusting for biomarkers of cardiovascular disease (resting HR, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides, HbA1c, Hs-CRP, cystatin C, NT-proBNP, Hs-Troponin T, and LVEF) as potential mediators of the alcohol effects. Here, NPPB is linked to cardiovascular disorder.
