ALB and chronic kidney disease: Traditional Chinese medicine also offers a valuable approach, as herbal extracts contain phytochemical polyphenols and competitors for albumin binding, such as salvianolic acids from Danshen (Salvia miltiorrhiza), which have the potential to treat renal fibrosis in chronic kidney disease (CKD) by inhibiting EZH2 (23), sulfotransferase (SULT) inhibitors (quercetin, chlorogenic acid, curcumin, and resveratrol), showing potential in inhibiting the production of gut-derived toxins (24–28).
