DH is associated with CD-sharing antibodies against tissue TG and is thought to be due to cross-reaction of anti-tTG IgA against tissue TG, this process generates a more vigorous CD4+ T-helper cell activation, which can result in intestinal mucosa inflammation, symptoms of malabsorption, and secondary extra-intestinal manifestations such as DH. The gene discussed is CD79A; the disease is dermatitis herpetiformis, familial.
