Autoantibodies to TRIM38, a Ro52-related molecule, which have been associated with increased immune infiltrates in the salivary gland and more severe disease in SjD disease (32, 37), were not significantly increased in prevalence in SjD-ILD, highlighting how the immune attack on the lung and salivary gland can occur independently of each other. This evidence concerns the gene TRIM38 and interstitial lung disease.
