In a more recent study by Liao et al. [99], the authors studied 41 CM and 11 melanocytic nevi samples, and upon conducting multi-omic and functional analyses, they showed that the m6A ‘eraser’ FTO was upregulated in cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) of the CM microenvironment that displayed pronounced proangiogenic potential (through the activation of VEGFA and EGR1).
