Due to the hepatic metabolism of SG, treatment is not recommended in patients with moderate/severe hepatic insufficiency as determined by pathologic levels of bilirubin and transaminases (bilirubin ≤ 1.5 × upper limit of normal [ULN]; aspartate aminotransferase [AST] and alanine aminotransferase [ALT] ≤ 2.5 × ULN; and serum albumin ≥ 3 g/dL). Here, ALB is linked to Hepatic failure.
