After adjusting for potential confounders, cancer‐specific mortality risk in elevated versus normal NT‐proBNP levels in normal‐weight individuals was no longer significant (HR = 1.28; 95%CI = 0.81, 2.02; p = 0.28) but remained significant in obese individuals (HR = 1.62, 95%CI = 1.08, 2.46; p = 0.02). This evidence concerns the gene NPPB and cancer.
