The previous researches have reported that pathogen and virus infection, self‐DNA damage and tumor DNA are the three key factors causing the activation of cGAS‐STING signaling.[22] Among them, most of DNA viruses, such as human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV‐1), and poxviruses can activate the cGAS‐STING cytosolic DNA‐sensing pathway and initiate an antiviral immune response. The gene discussed is CGAS; the disease is neoplasm.
