IL6 and melanoma: Remarkably, in three large phase II/III randomized trials (Checkmate–064,–066 and −067), evaluating ICIs (nivolumab, ipilimumab), a lower IL-6 level was associated with significantly greater time of survival [Laino et al., 2020], leading to a prospective phase II trial (NCT03999749) in patients with melanoma, adding tocilizumab (IL-6R blocking antibody) in combination with ICIs, nivolumab and ipilimumab [Laino et al., 2020].
