FCGR2A and bacterial infectious disease: Interestingly, in line with our study, FcγR expression in association with CD89 (FcαRI) has been shown to be upregulated on blood phagocytes following bacterial infections and mediates increased phagocytosis (Tymowski et al. 2019; Chiamolera et al. 2001) indicating the crucial role of FcRs in mediating host defense against sepsis.
