The pathobiology of tauopathies consistently reveals an association with neuroinflammation, evidenced by the frequent presence of reactive microglia near tau inclusions (Bellucci et al., 2011; Ishizawa and Dickson, 2001; Sasaki et al., 2008; Serrano-Pozo et al., 2013). The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is tauopathy.
