Despite the limited data on hippocampal PRL signaling and ROS neurodegenerative diseases, the neuroprotective effects of peripheral PRL administration in the hippocampus of an Alzheimer’s disease model induced by intracerebroventricular injection of streptozotocin [63] support the hypothesis that PRL may play a protective role against oxidative stress in this brain region. This evidence concerns the gene PRL and Alzheimer disease.
