Another study showed that the depletion of p120 in murine alveolar epithelial cells during mechanical stretching significantly increased the expression of caspase-1 and the activation of NLRP3, aggravating mitochondrial dysfunction, and the results suggest that p120 prohibited the activation of NLRP3 to protect the structure and function of mitochondria by suppressing TLR4 pathway and ROS production in ventilator-induced lung injury in mice (Liu et al., 2019).
