Although knock-out of BAX/BAK caused resistance of some cancer cell lines to the inhibition of the BCL-2 pro-survival proteins [36, 66, 67], researchers revealed that the expression levels of BAX and/or BAK across cell lines from the same origin showed no correlation with the sensitivities to the BH3-mimetics [36], consistent with our observations in the context of osteosarcoma cell lines. The gene discussed is BCL2; the disease is osteosarcoma.
