IL10 and multiple sclerosis: Our results provide evidence indicating that T. spiralis- enriched Muribaculum and unclassified_Muribulaceae are correlated with enhanced production of SCFAs [37], especially propionic acid, which has been demonstrated to possess functions in reducing the relapse rate and disability progression of multiple sclerosis by increasing expression of Treg-cell-inducing genes, such as IL-10 [46], as well as alleviating intestinal inflammation by enhancing goblet cell differentiation and mucus function [47].
