In the NaAsO2-induced hepatic insulin resistance model, the inhibition of mtROS can reduce the upregulation of oxidized mitochondrial DNA (ox-mtDNA) and mitigate mitochondrial mitophagy, thereby suppressing the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome (NLRP3, ASC, pro-caspase-1) and decreases the expression levels of caspase-1, IL-1β, and IL-18 (Jia et al., 2020). Here, NLRP3 is linked to Insulin resistance.
