By stimulating the local inflammatory micro-environment of psoriasis in HaCaT cells using LPS/TNFα and generating mice carrying psoriasiform dermatitis using imiquimod, Gan et al. found that plasma-activated medium (PAM) selectively inhibited hyper-proliferative keratinocytes by reducing cytokines TNFα, IL17, IL22, suggestive of the anti-inflammatory role of CAP in treating psoriasis and enhanced sensitivity of inflammatory cells to CAP treatment 74. The gene discussed is IL22; the disease is psoriasis.
