A dual incretin receptor agonist that co-activates GLP-1 and GIP receptors has been shown in a clinical trial involving overweight/obese patients with T2DM to produce significant improvements in glycemic control (mean HBA1c reduction of 1.94%) and massive weight loss (mean weight loss of 11.3 kg) after 26 weeks of treatment with the highest dose (15 mg/weekly) (85). This evidence concerns the gene GLP1R and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
