CD4+ T cells are known as a key initiator of the intestinal inflammation process.41 Specifically, IL-17–producing CD4+ T cells are essential to the pathogenesis of IBD.42 Since our data have indicated that deletion of Piezo1 upregulates proinflammatory signatures in T cells, including IL-17 and related cytokines, we examined the function of Piezo1 on intestinal inflammation in vivo using an acute colitis mouse model. This evidence concerns the gene IL17A and inflammatory bowel disease.
