The tumor progression is accelerated by Fusobacterium‐mediated activation of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling pathways, which stimulates the epithelial–mesenchymal transition of tumor cells (Yu, Kim, and Park 2020), and Fusobacterium also accelerates proliferation of CRC cells by Toll‐like receptor 4 (TLR4)‐activated NF‐κB signaling (Yang et al. 2017) and activation of the Wnt/β‐catenin pathway (Rubinstein et al. 2019). The gene discussed is TLR4; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
