Besides organ- and tissue-specific expression patterns, miRNA profiles have also been used to identify ALL subgroups: B- and T-cell ALL patients can be distinguished according to miRNA expression levels63–65, and the cytogenetic BCP ALL subgroups of KMT2A-, ETV6::RUNX1-, PBX1-rearranged and hypodiploid cases were shown to cluster according to their miRNA profiles25. This evidence concerns the gene PBX1 and acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
