A previous study showed that dietary ironrestriction attenuated the infiltration of macrophages and the expression ofinflammatory- and fibrotic-related genes, including MCP-1, interleukin-6 (IL-6),transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), collagen I and III inaortic walls in Ang II-infused mice, suggesting iron restriction can inhibitinflammation and fibrotic response induced by Ang II in AAA mice [21].Endothelial nitric oxide synthase protects vascular cells from oxidative damageand its uncoupling contributes to severe vascular remodeling and leads to thepredisposition of AAA formation [42]. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and triple-A syndrome.
