Intriguingly, circulating levels of miR-153 and miR-223 were similarly lower in the 19-month-old GFAP.HMOX18.5−19 m mice compared to age-matched WT controls (Figure 3A,B) [64], commensurate with the systemic alterations in α-synuclein gene and protein expression profiles in GFAP.HMOX18.5−19 m mouse erythrocytes (Figure 3C,D), as well as in idiopathic human PD [15,18,55,64,93].
