Evidence in cancer cells indeed suggests that MYC transcription is regulated by DNA methylation status (Cheah et al, 1984; de Souza et al, 2013; Kaneko et al, 1985; Rao et al, 1989; Tsujiuchi et al, 1999), in addition to regulation by other epigenetic layers (Fan et al, 2016; Lüscher, 2001) and G-quadruplexes (Brooks and Hurley, 2010).
