In addition, treatment with 1 μM methazolamide rescued the retinal degeneration observed in the rho:eGFP–tau-WT and rho:eGFP–tau-P301L models (Fig. 2b,c) and reduced the number of AT8+ photoreceptors (Extended Data Fig. 3e), suggesting that methazolamide also reduced the levels of hyperphosphorylated tau in these models. The gene discussed is RHO; the disease is retinal degeneration.
