More recently, the trials HUYGENS (High-Resolution Assessment of Coronary Plaques in a Global Evolocumab Randomized Study)72 and PACMAN-AMI (Effects of the PCSK9 Antibody Alirocumab on Coronary Atherosclerosis in Patients With Acute Myocardial Infarction)73 showed that the addition of PCSK9 inhibitors to high-intensity statin therapy favorably modifies coronary plaque in high-risk patients, such as those with recent ACS. This evidence concerns the gene PCSK9 and myocardial infarction.
