Syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (ADH) secretion (SIADH) is a condition characterized by unsuppressed secretion of ADH from the pituitary or nonpituitary sources (ectopic ADH secretion) or its continued action due to intrinsic activation of the vasopressin receptors in the kidney (hereditary or “nephrogenic” SIADH). The gene discussed is AVP; the disease is Down syndrome.
