VEGFA and meningioma: Retrospective studies of the efficacy of different conventional systemic treatments reported progression-free survival rates at 6 months (PFS6) of 26%–29%.6 An exception was bevacizumab, a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitor, which showed both clinical and radiographic benefits in several clinical studies.7–12 The most recent prospective study reported a PFS6 of up to 90% for grade 1 refractory meningiomas and 66% for grade 2/3 meningiomas using bevacizumab therapy.12
