Tau-related pathology has been found in the olfactory bulbs of patients with AD, Parkinson’s disease, dementia with Lewy bodies, and bvFTD, although this has not been observed in patients suffering from other disorders which are not clinically associated with olfactory dysfunction, such as progressive supranuclear palsy and corticobasal degeneration [6]. This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and Classical progressive supranuclear palsy.
