A recent study by Caglar et al. (2023) investigated three regimens of the uterotonic agent oxytocin only versus carbetocin only versus a combination of oxytocin with intrauterine misoprostol and concluded that carbetocin is not superior to oxytocin alone or with intrauterine misoprostol in preventing postpartum hemorrhage. The gene discussed is OXT; the disease is postpartum hemorrhage.
