OXT and postpartum hemorrhage: In a study by Gohar et al. [16], which investigated postpartum hemorrhage prevention with sublingual misoprostol versus oxytocin via different methods of blood loss assessment with a plastic blood collection drape placed beneath the patient before surgery, they reported that 400 mcg of sublingual misoprostol was more efficacious than 10 IU intramuscular oxytocin in lowering postdelivery blood loss, although the difference was statistically insignificant.
