High CRP levels prior to surgery (OR 3.2 (95% CI 1.1–9.6), p = 0.036) and comorbidity of DM (OR 6.4 (95% CI 1.4–28.6), p = 0.015) were significantly associated with development of surgical site complications after CV surgery among BD patients (Supplementary Table S4). Here, CRP is linked to diabetes mellitus.
