According to research, the protein biomarkers that most accurately indicate neurodevelopmental impairment include IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-8.[38,39] An important part of the neuro-inflammatory process underlying ischemic-hypoxic encephalopathy is played by IL-1β.[40] Furthermore, there was a substantial correlation between the severity of the disease and the plasma TNF-α levels, which were shown to be much greater in CP patients than in normal controls.
