Low tau expression has been associated with enhanced sensitivity to paclitaxel in breast [48–50], ovarian [51], gastric [52–56], and bladder cancer [57], and silencing tau expression in ZR75.1 breast cancer cells enhanced sensitivity to paclitaxel and docetaxel, but not epirubicin, doxorubicin, or vinorelbine [48,58], which are not taxanes, suggestive of a tau specificity toward tubulin-targeting drugs. Here, MAPT is linked to urinary bladder cancer.
