Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia and is associated with the extracellular assembly of the peptide amyloid-beta (Aβ) into plaques, as well as the intracellular deposition of phosphorylated tau neurofibrillary tangles (p-TauNFTs) in the brain. Here, MAPT is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
