The most common etiology of hypomagnesemia was the use of PPIs in 53% (16/30) of the patients.[6–19] Others included diarrhea (6/30 patients),[6,9,12,17,20,21] short bowel syndrome (2/30 patients),[7,22] alcohol abuse (4/30 patients),[6,10,21,23] TRPM6 heterozygous mutation,[24] Gitelman syndrome,[25] medication with platinum agents,[26] Cetuximab,[26] Tacrolimus,[27] diuretics,[13,19] Fulvestrant, and Palbociclib.[16]. The gene discussed is TRPM6; the disease is familial primary hypomagnesemia.
