Truncating mutations in the TTN, DSP, FLNC, and BAG3 genes have been identified in women with PPCM, with relative prevalence rates (TTN: 10%; DSP and FLNC: 1%; BAG3: 0.2%) that are nearly identical to the rates found in the DCM cohort, further supporting a high degree of genetic similarity between PPCM and DCM.426. This evidence concerns the gene DSP and familial dilated cardiomyopathy.
