NLRP3 and primary biliary cholangitis: Two key inflammasome-related candidates, NLRP3 and macrophage inhibition factor (MIF), which is required for the NLRP3 inflammasome pathway [21], were elevated in the patient’s liver but not in the PBC alone or healthy liver datasets by targeted differential gene expression analysis (Figure 2C and Supplementary Tables S2 and S3) [14,15].
