Inflammatory biomarkers such as C-reactive protein (CRP), granulocyte–monocyte colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), interferon-γ (IFNγ), interleukins (IL-6 and IL-8), myeloperoxidase (MPO), P-selectin, and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) may naturally be elevated in cases of acute sarcopenia.
