In our study, serum levels of resistin were found to be significantly increased in the obese subjects (p < 0.0001) and in PCOS patients (p < 0.01) when compared with controls, whereas adiponectin was found to be significantly lower (p < 0.0001) in both obesity and PCOS. This evidence concerns the gene ADIPOQ and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
