Previously, we demonstrated (i) a coordinated expression of eNOS/HIF-2α in about 30% of radical prostatectomy tissues from aggressive/metastatic PCa [23], (ii) a transcriptional down-regulation of lncRNA H19 under combined estrogen and hypoxia treatment in PCa cells that, in turn, induced both E-cadherin and β4 integrin expression [24], and (iii) a contribution of the above H19/cell adhesion molecules circuitry in governing in vivo tumor growth and metastasis formation [25]. This evidence concerns the gene EPAS1 and posterior cortical atrophy.
