A mice model with circadian malfunction due to chronic jet lag revealed more tendency to develop HCC in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) due to disruption of the cell cycle components, including cell proliferation and apoptosis, and activation of oncogenic pathways such as WNT/β-catenin and TNFα-NF-κB in the liver [96]. Here, NFKB1 is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
