Interestingly, the downregulation of the ESRRγ–PERM1–CKMT2 signaling axis in muscles from ovariectomized rats suggest that ESRRγ, PERM1, and CKMT2 are key players in the development of obstructive sleep apnea–hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) and could be targeted to prevent or mitigate the condition [27].
