We can suggest that HMGB1, even at the mRNA level, may be a predictor of LV enlargement, severe LV dilatation, impaired systolic function, and adverse LV remodeling after MI, independently of myocardial infarct size, which may eventually lead to heart failure, arrhythmia, and poor clinical outcomes.
